Mark Harvey, Music Director, (Trumpeter and Pianist) assembles a group of seasoned improvisers to create original music inspired by the dancing film work of Kate Matson.
Mark Harvey has performed for over forty years as an improviser and with large ensembles. His improvisational work includes original music with FiLmprov, accompaniment for classic silent films, and four DVD soundtracks for rediscovered silent films as part of the Treasures from the American Film Archives project, broadcast on TCM. He is the founder, music director, and principal composer for the Aardvark Jazz Orchestra which has concertized in Boston and throughout the Northeast and has released fifteen CD recordings to national and international acclaim. An Ellington scholar, he has written, lectured, and presented all Ellington programs with the AJO, including An Ellington Celebration: From Standards to Sacred at Emmanuel Church, Boston.
